About Us

Our multinational aerospace and security Client is looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join their team on infrastructure development projects. This is an opportunity to collaborate on a variety of projects ranging from £50k to £10m in value. This consultancy are providing the chance to develop as a professional and progress your career.

Role Overview

As a Design Engineer, you will work within a dedicated design and construction team, responsible for delivering civil designs across multiple projects. This role requires a strong focus on design, compliance, and collaboration to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of infrastructure projects. You will be creating designs from initial concept to completion. This means there will be a mix of site and office presence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop planning applications, Building Regulations, detailed designs, and construction drawings.
• Design highways, drainage systems, and structural components.
• Produce comprehensive drawing packages and design calculations for all project stages.
• Formulate Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) strategies for major developments.
• Conduct land and building surveys.
• Collaborate with the civil team to achieve the most efficient and safe design solutions.
• Provide expert structural design advice to construction projects.
• Prepare and submit applications to relevant authorities.
• Detail and manage BIM practices within projects.
• Support the delivery team and clients to meet designer responsibilities under CDM regulations.
• Ensure compliance with client specifications and current regulatory standards.
• Design facilities and infrastructure with a focus on manufacturability.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Degree/HNC/HND in Civil Design / Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of the 2015 CDM Regulations.
• Proven experience in construction design within the industrial sector.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and hand calculations is essential.
• Membership or active pursuit of membership in a related Professional Engineering Institution is desirable.
• Experience in the defence industry and familiarity with design management is desirable also.

Skills & Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of British and European design standards and Eurocodes.
• Demonstrable experience as a Civil Structural Engineer in both design office and construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of H&S and CDM legislation, with an understanding of the Building Safety Act.
• Ability to lead by example and engage effectively with team members, third-party contractors, and authorities.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work packages.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with the capability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
