Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a background in data centre design to join our client's talented team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and delivering electrical systems for high-profile data centre projects, ensuring quality, performance, and compliance with industry standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and be involved in both the design and execution stages of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Design: Develop electrical systems designs for data centre projects, including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and low-voltage systems.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide expert input on the selection and specification of electrical equipment, ensuring designs meet safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, mechanical engineers, and clients to deliver integrated and cost-effective solutions.
  • Project Delivery: Assist with the delivery of projects, providing technical support and ensuring that electrical systems are installed to specification, on time, and within budget.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical codes, industry standards (e.g., NEC, IET), and safety regulations.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects, resolving any electrical design issues that arise.
  • Documentation: Produce detailed design documentation, reports, and drawings (using CAD/AutoCAD or other design tools) to support project implementation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Keep up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in electrical design and data centre engineering.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience in electrical design, with a focus on data centre projects (minimum of [X] years in a similar role).
  • Qualifications: A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Professional accreditation (e.g., IET, CEng) is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
    • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems for data centres, including power distribution, backup systems, UPS, and generators.
    • Strong understanding of relevant electrical codes and regulations (e.g., IET Wiring Regulations, IEC standards).
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well within a team and with clients.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Work Authorisation: Must be a British passport holder (no sponsorship required).
  • Location: Based in London, with hybrid working opportunities. The office is easily accessible via public transport, including tube stations.
