Your impact to the business:

As the Director of Design and Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in managing design and engineering initiatives while driving efficiency and profitability in mission-critical projects. You will lead a talented team of subject matter experts, engage with executive stakeholders, and support business development efforts to expand our market presence and achieve revenue goals.

• Lead day-to-day client relationships, providing consulting services from project concept to delivery for both internal and external clients.
• Oversee MEP-focused design teams on data centre projects nationwide, ensuring adherence to specifications, time-lines, and budgets.
• Support sales and business strategies by analysing market trends and identifying new opportunities for growth and profitability.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive retention, business development, and customer satisfaction.
• Manage end-to-end project execution, ensuring exceptional customer experiences and proactive issue resolution.
• Prepare technical reports, designs, and recommendations for project success.
• Oversee compliance with architectural and engineering regulatory requirements and monitor industry changes.
• Manage contractor relationships and external projects to ensure quality, efficiency, and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
• Hire and on-board a team of subject matter experts and forecast departmental budgets.
• Ensure high service standards across the design team, promoting teamwork, efficiency, and inter-departmental collaboration.
• Attend industry trade shows and maintain market knowledge through continuous education

The Necessities:

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture (NAAB), Engineering (ABET), or Engineering Technology (ABET).
• 10+ years of experience in architectural/engineering design, specifically in data centres.
• Professional licensure as an Architect or Professional Engineer (preferred).
• Extensive knowledge of design/build contracts and building code compliance for data centre projects.
• Proficiency with software such as MS Office Suite, BlueBeam, Autodesk (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Civil 3D), and Procore.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Must be open to frequent travel.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, climbing, lifting up to 100 pounds, and working in various environments.
