Mechanical Estimator

We are working with a client who are looking for a a skilled and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their team. You will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with mechanical projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. As a key member of their team, you will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive estimates and contribute to the successful completion of projects.

What you need:

    • 8-10 years estimating, cost control and/or engineering experience related to mechanical and/or electrical construction.
    • Successful track record estimating and negotiating large, complex projects.
    • Thorough knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques, FastPipe/Fastduct and/or McCormick/ConEst(Intellibid) estimating software, cost control systems and accounts.
    • Ability to successfully coordinate and supervise group work effort.
    • Superior technical, analytical, organizational and communication skills.
    • Working knowledge and understanding of current electrical (NEC) and/or mechanical (UMC) code.

Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze project documents and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems.
  2. Collaborate with project teams to understand project requirements and objectives.
  3. Conduct site visits and gather relevant information to support the estimation process.
  4. Prepare detailed take-offs and material/labor cost breakdowns for mechanical components.
  5. Evaluate subcontractor quotes and proposals to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
  6. Participate in bid meetings, presentations, and negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
  7. Provide support to project managers during the pre-construction phase, including value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
  8. Maintain accurate records of estimates, assumptions, and project-related documentation.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies related to mechanical systems and estimating practices.
  10. Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the estimating function.
