Role: Critical Facilities Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL
Shift: First Half Nights
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in a live data center environment
- Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and emergency response for critical systems (UPS, generators, HVAC, fire suppression, etc.)
- Monitor BMS and EPMS systems to ensure optimal performance
- Support change management, incident response, and escalation procedures
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors during maintenance and upgrades
- Maintain detailed logs, reports, and compliance documentation
What You’ll Bring:
- 3+ years of experience in critical facilities or data center operations
- Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems (HVAC, UPS, CRAC, generators)
- Familiarity with CMMS, BMS, and EPMS platforms
- Ability to work independently on night shifts with a proactive mindset
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Certifications such as EPA, NFPA, or trade licenses are a plus
