Working for an international Cost Consultancy

UK Life Science project with remote working

Headline of the Commercial Manager

Working for a high tenure international Cost Consultancy you will be a pivotal figure working closely with the Project Director to deliver a large complex project. You will take responsibility for all financial procedures including ensuring that cashflow figures for the project are accurately kept. In addition to this, you will also develop a strong understanding of the project from the ground up as you oversee all contractual and tendering requirements. A strong communicator you will also lead on contract negotiations and deal with all claims and variations on this Life Science project.

Key requirements of the Commercial Manager

Previous experience of successfully managing Life Science, Pharma or DC projects

Superb ability to lead and manage costs reporting

Excellent negotiation skills

Strong contractual and tender knowledge

Adept at dealing with claims and variations

NEC contract experience

Strong experience of delivering projects in budget and on time

Due to the nature of the project, this role will be a great vehicle for an experienced Senior Commercial Manager in a Tier 1 contractor looking to progress and expand their skill set into a consultancy environment. Or a Commerical Manager feeling undervalued in their current consultancy and keen to inject a fresh approach on their construction projects

Ideally have an industry-recognised Degree with chartered accreditation

Key deliverables of the Commercial Manager’s role

Advise on the successful awarding of sub-contract packages

Liaise and lead project meetings with both design teams and the contractors where necessary

Successfully support and advise the client on specific procurement routes that are available to them

Monitor and confirm project insurance arrangements

Oversee and monitor the different packages bid schedules

Be part of and monitor major change processes alongside your team

Oversee and instruct payment to contractors once project deliverables are met

Monitor and prepare an ongoing set of final accounts

Oversee accounts closure and retained releases

Carry out internal reporting via billing monitors, interim costs value reconciliations and MCRs

Prepare final account reconciliation

Create regular budget and price updates

Prepare monthly cost and progress report
