Job Description

Commissioning Manager

Working for a global project consultancy, you will parachute into a new build data centre project in France to oversee the commissioning management of the M&E Package. The consultancy already has a great established foothold in the Gulf states and is currently expanding its core business operations in Europe with a particular focus on expanding its data centre client base and projects.

The consultancy is open to the Commissioning Manager working as a consultant for the duration of the project, or they would be open to the Commissioning Manager joining their team on a permanent basis.

As the Commissioning Manager, it is accepted that you will be on site on this particular project – a 20MW+ new build centre – until the end of 2021. At this point, if not already having been made permanent, there would be opportunities to move onto the consultancy’s other data centre projects.

About the Commissioning Manager

My client, a London-based consultancy, is keen to utilise the skills and expertise of an experienced Commissioning Manager who has worked on other European data centre projects. They would consider someone who has commissioned within the UK, but if you have a feel for the European data centre market you will fit more effortlessly into this project.

The project spoken language will be English so if you are a bi-lingual commissioning professional you must be able to hold business level standard spoken and written English for this role.

To really hit the ground running on this project you will need to have a good technical understanding of:

  • HV boards & transformers
  • Generators
  • ATS, UPS, LV switchgear etc

This high value project will require your knowledge and knowhow throughout as you ensure the whole team keeps on plan.

Key deliverables of the M&E Commissioning Manager

Management to keep the project commissioning schedules on plan
Oversee and manage all relevant client contractors, commissioning consultants and additional commissioning personnel using your experience, driving the project forward
Oversee the M&E installations, consistently checking for quality and highlighting any shortfalls
Ensure that installations match contract documents, whilst quickly mitigating deviations to ensure client handover targets and satisfaction
Ensure all works meet client’s design with any variations highlighted to ensure the strong ongoing management of project costs and budgets
Mitigate risk and any non-compliance
Ensure the highest health & safety practices are met
Operate as both manager and coach to ensure a quality installation is delivered by all contractors
