Financial Controller

Location: Bicester

Salary: £75,000 – £80,000

My client is a fast-growing group active in the Mechanical and Electrical engineering of data centres and complex buildings, is looking for a Financial Controller to support the successful development of its worldwide activities, to be based in its UK headquarters.

Role Responsibilities

  • Oversee the General Accounting function including direct management of team members responsible for Credit, A/R, A/P and payroll
  • Responsible for the running of finance systems and associated projects, taking over the responsibility of the migration to an upgraded version of its ERP, together with the implementation of any required alignment of financial and accounting processes
  • In charge of treasury management including monitoring of working capital, cash flows, bank relationship, and contracting of foreign currency hedges
  • Manage the timely periodic closing of management and statutory accounts, periodic reviews of balance sheet, Group reporting
  • Oversee, monitor and maintain robust processes, making sure effective internal controls and financial risk management are in place
  • Where necessary, with the support of external advisors, manage all tax, VAT and social security related aspects, ensuring compliance together with accurate and timely reporting to authorities
  • Contribute to the M&A activities more particularly with regards to the integration of new entities
  • Management and administration of overseas permanent establishment; liaison with in-country tax advisors
  • Contribute to the implementation of Group related bonus and sales target incentive structure

Role Requirements

  • Finance degree desirable
  • CAT/ACA/ACCA in appropriate financial discipline or have sufficient equivalent experience
  • Minimum 8 years relevant experience, with 4 years in a similar position
  • Previous experience in supporting the compilation of complex financial data and engaging graphical information
  • In depth knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
  • Sound knowledge & working application of key regulations, including social security tax, VAT, corporate income tax and pension
  • Rigorous, attention to detail, together with high degree of professionalism and discretion
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work to strict deadlines
  • Effective analytical skills when interpreting data and ability to communicate results and trends in appropriate formats
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral
  • Team player, ability to brief and delegate financial tasks to direct reports and support team
  • Excellent working knowledge Excel and SAP and sage payroll
  • Understanding of business strategy principles and skills
  • Background in consulting or construction preferred
  • Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy
