Location: Higham Ferrers/Peterborough/Birmingham

Salary: £65,000 – £85,000

My client is a very well established, professional multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy with a passion for sustainability within construction projects. The well-versed Head of Finance will be joining our existing Senior Management Team (SMT), which provides support for projects primarily within the automotive, commercial, industrial, retail, education and residential sectors.

Reporting into the Deputy Managing Director and Managing director, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute their ideas and add value to the business.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Produce monthly management accounts, analysing key trends and working closely with the business to understand variances
  • Oversee the finance team and review/prepare relevant reconciliations
  • Manage day to day relationship with our bank and be responsible for the bank account and authorising of payments
  • Oversee payroll processing
  • Liaise with our external auditors and tax advisors
  • Prepare draft trial balance, related schedules for audit/accounts preparation by our external advisors
  • Produce balance sheet supporting documentation when required
  • Oversee credit control and ensure the purchase and sales ledger is up to date daily or weekly
  • Liaise with key customers on the financial elements of terms of service where necessary
  • Produce and manage forecasts on a monthly basis. Particularly reviewing/updating cash flow forecast
  • Look to review and implement efficiencies in the finance systems and controls
  • Liaise with and manage our key public utility supplies such as water, gas and electricity as well as business related insurances

Ideal candidate

  • Must have at least eight years’ experience within finance and/or accounting
  • ACCA/CIMA qualified
  • Experience in financial leadership is essential and running a team
  • Have a good understanding of construction consultancy or similar is advantageous
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Can work on their own initiative and to coordinate their work with others, with high attention to accuracy and detail.
