My client is an established, award-winning, professional multi-disciplinary engineering practice with a passion for excellence, innovation and environmental sustainability for construction projects to a broad and diverse range of projects and for clients that include a number of blue-chip and international brands.

They are looking for a highly experienced building services engineering SENIOR ENGINEER, with mechanical bias to join our MEP engineering team, which provides support for projects primarily within the commercial, industrial, retail, education and residential sectors.

The role is initially specific to a large commercial/industrial production facility for a prestigious client within the North East (NE) and will be predominantly site based for an approx. 60-month period before transition to being based in a new NE regional office. During the first 60-month period, the candidate will act as our Resident Engineer (RE) on site, as part of a wider site-based team, to act as link between our in-house designers and the construction team.

The successful candidate will be responsible, under the leadership of a Director and Associate Directors of the business, for the day to day liaison with both the main contractor and sub-contractors on site. The ability to operate as part of a wider project team and to represent the company with confidence to the client’s representatives and outside organisations is expected. The candidate will have the ability to work on their own initiative and to manage day to day issues and queries, with high attention to detail. Day to Day liaison with the office-based design teams, attendance of meetings, review of installation work, testing, commissioning, handover and close out will all be essential parts of this role.

As such, there must be demonstrable ability and understanding of dealing with site-based activities including but not limited to:
* Experience on large scale advanced manufacturing projects with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the management of onsite engineering teams
* A relevant accredited degree or have suitable, equivalent qualification and/or experience
* Being able to act as the Client’s authorised representative
* Having a commitment to technical excellence and the highest level of Quality Assurance
* Having a dynamic, collaborative attitude to engineering and construction
* Be comfortable with communication at all levels of authority both within and without the Rolton Group
* Be proficient in the use of Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry standard software packages, such as, Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit MEP and IES/ESDL Tas in addition to high level of competency with the traditional Microsoft (MS) Office Suite

You will be solution driven and able to identify and solve arising issues. Included in the successful candidate’s skillset should be:
* Survey, inspection and reporting
* Engineering calculation and dynamic simulation modelling
* Preparation/review of drawn/modelled design information
* Technical report writing
* Risk analysis
* Commercial awareness with input to the Senior Management Team (SMT)
* Self-motivation with effective time management including assigned colleagues
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Confidence in client and contractor facing situations with gravitas

You will be focused on the delivery of the construction stages of the RIBA Plan of Work 2020 (Stage 5 through to 7). Providing leadership to the Resident Engineer(s) under your leadership, you will ensure the delivery of the project to exacting technical standards and in compliance at all times with the baseline Employers Requirement (ER)’s.  
Encompassing the full range of Mechanical Building Engineering Services and you will have experience in:

* Design review and coordination
* Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA)
* Process services integration
* Review of material submission
* Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)’s and Witness Testing
* Commissioning, handover and close out
* Fast track design and change control

You will be able to demonstrate experience of delivery within the following sectors:
* Advanced manufacturing
* Automotive
* Clean/dry room(s) and environmental control
* Hazardous environments
* Industrial
* Pharmaceutical
* Process and engineering

The candidate should ideally be a Chartered Engineer with either the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) or the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) with a minimum of 10 years post-graduate experience.
