Public Health Engineers design the water and wastewater systems that are essential to successful, healthy and sustainable buildings – ranging from fire suppression systems to drainage in high-rise buildings, and from supplying ultra-pure water to piping specialist gases and fluids for healthcare and science facilities.
Public Health Engineers design and manage the installation of plumbing systems in a building, this can include hot and cold water systems, wastewater and drainage and how they integrate with local sewages systems. Fire suppression systems often use greywater and therefore frequently these systems full under the remit of a public health engineer.
