Critical Operations Technician 

Toronto, ON Full-Time | Shift-Based Operations Energi People is partnering with a leading provider of mission-critical facilities to recruit a Critical Operations Technician

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious facilities professional looking to build a long-term career within the rapidly expanding data centre industry.As a Critical Operations Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability, performance, and uptime of critical infrastructure systems that support one of the world’s most demanding operational environments. You will work alongside experienced engineers and operations professionals, gaining exposure to industry-leading technologies and best practices.Key Responsibilities

• Monitor, operate, and maintain critical facility systems including electrical, mechanical, cooling, and life safety infrastructure.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
• Respond to alarms, incidents, and operational events in accordance with established procedures.
• Support troubleshooting, fault finding, and root cause analysis on facility equipment.
• Assist with switching procedures and equipment isolations under supervision.
• Ensure operational activities are completed safely and in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
• Maintain accurate records, logs, and maintenance documentation.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders during maintenance and repair activities.
• Participate in shift handovers and communicate operational risks effectively.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

• Experience working with critical building systems, facilities operations, industrial maintenance, data centres, power generation, commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, manufacturing plants, or similar environments.
• Basic understanding of electrical distribution systems, UPS systems, generators, HVAC equipment, chilled water systems, or building management systems (BMS).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, procedures, and operating documentation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Comfortable working in a shift-based operational environment.
• Commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Preferred Experience

• Data centre, mission-critical, or critical facilities experience.
• Trade certification, technical diploma, engineering technology qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with CMMS, BMS, EPMS, or DCIM platforms.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance and critical environment operations.
