Senior Mechanical Engineer Job Description
Salary: £50-£60K DOE
A specialist independent building services consultancy, renowned for its innovative and sustainable design solutions, is expanding its team. With a strong portfolio in office fit-out projects, they are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their London office.
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with recent CAT A and CAT B experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing effective designs, conducting surveys, preparing feasibility reports, specifications, and managing mechanical services installations. This role requires adherence to health and safety, QA, and environmental policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare AutoCAD drawings in accordance with company CAD standards and perform design calculations using industry-leading software (e.g., Hevacomp).
Assist in preparing feasibility studies, design reports, specifications, and contract administration documents.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current standards and legislation, ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations.
Conduct detailed site surveys, attend client meetings, and provide site supervision.
Implement technical standards and support business development.
Assist with the financial control of projects, liaising with the Project Director.
Mentor and assist graduate engineers.
Skills and Experience
Minimum HND level qualification with at least 6 years of UK building services design experience.
Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD packages such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or Bentley AECOsim. Experience with IES modelling software is advantageous.
Understanding of BIM Level 2 and BIM project deliverables structure.
CEng qualified or working towards CEng, with appropriate membership of professional bodies such as CIBSE, IMECHE, or IET.
Full UK driving license.
