Data Center Technician | Long-Term Contract | Dallas, TX

We are recruiting for a leading data centre operator in Dallas that is looking to appoint a Data Center Technician on a long-term contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a mission-critical environment, supporting enterprise infrastructure, customer operations, and day-to-day data centre activities.

The Role As a Data Center Technician, you will support the day-to-day operation of a live data centre facility, providing technical assistance, remote hands services, customer support, and operational oversight. You will work closely with internal teams and customers while helping to maintain high standards of service delivery and uptime.

Day and Night shifts available.


Key Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships by delivering a professional service and responding promptly to customer enquiries via phone and email.
  • Monitor facility alarms and technical alerts, troubleshooting issues and escalating to engineering teams where necessary.
  • Follow established operational procedures and escalation processes within a fast-paced data centre environment.
  • Track and document time spent on support activities, including customer installations, site expansions, outages, and remote hands requests.
  • Complete operational activities such as audits, reporting, documentation updates, and compliance checks under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Accurately execute hardware installations, maintenance activities, and ticket updates using ServiceNow and other operational platforms.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of data centre housekeeping, organisation, tool management, and equipment inventory whilst supporting shipping and receiving processes.
  • Perform routine hardware upgrades, replacements, moves, adds, and changes in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Gather, verify, and document information required to support more complex customer and remote hands requests.
  • Assist with maintenance and project-based tasks following guidance provided by project coordinators and senior technicians.
  • Troubleshoot physical layer infrastructure issues, including cable connectivity, power verification, and hardware checks.
  • Utilise operational databases and management tools to support service delivery and documentation requirements.
  • Review and verify customer access documentation and authorisation requests in accordance with site procedures.
  • Support site safety initiatives and emergency preparedness activities by participating in walkthroughs and following established protocols.
  • Maintain SLA compliance across assigned tasks and support requests.
  • Produce accurate shift reports and complete effective handovers to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Demonstrate reliability, flexibility, and commitment to supporting a 24x7x365 operational environment.
  • Perform additional duties as required, contributing to a collaborative, high-performing, and resilient data centre team.

What You’ll Need

  • Experience within a data centre, technical operations, IT support, NOC, SOC, or similar environment.
  • Basic hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow procedures, document activities accurately, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience using ticketing systems such as ServiceNow is advantageous.
  • Understanding of structured cabling, server hardware, networking, or critical infrastructure environments is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
  • Flexibility to work either day or night shifts.
