Liquid Cooling SME Job, Texas Job Description
Liquid Cooling Engineering SME
A rapidly growing digital infrastructure organisation that is investing heavily in next-generation high-density computing environments. As part of its continued expansion, I’m looking for a Liquid Cooling Engineering SME to become the technical authority for large-scale liquid cooling infrastructure across multiple sites.
This is a highly visible opportunity where you will influence cooling strategy, support cutting-edge deployments, and play a key role in the reliability and performance of mission-critical facilities. The position is remote with extensive travel to operational sites.
The Opportunity As the Liquid Cooling Engineering SME, you will lead the technical direction of industrial liquid cooling systems, supporting everything from design validation and commissioning through to optimisation and lifecycle management.
You will work closely with Engineering, Construction, Automation and Operations teams, ensuring cooling infrastructure performs safely, efficiently and reliably within high-density computing environments.
This role would suit a specialist with deep expertise in liquid cooling, thermal management and critical infrastructure who enjoys combining technical leadership with hands-on operational support.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead the technical strategy for large-scale liquid cooling systems, including direct-to-chip, cold plate and immersion cooling technologies.
- Act as the subject matter expert for liquid cooling infrastructure across multiple operational sites.
- Apply thermal engineering principles to evaluate heat transfer, system performance, fluid chemistry and cooling efficiency.
- Support the deployment, commissioning and optimisation of liquid-cooled rack environments.
- Provide technical leadership across pumps, valves, heat exchangers, VFDs and fluid distribution systems.
- Partner with controls and automation teams to develop alarm strategies, interlocks and operational logic within PLC and BMS platforms.
- Oversee commissioning activities including hydro-testing, flow balancing and thermal validation.
- Lead root cause investigations relating to thermal, mechanical and fluid system issues.
- Develop maintenance strategies, operating procedures and best practice standards for liquid cooling systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, availability and performance.
What You Will Bring
- 7+ years’ experience working with industrial water cooling, liquid cooling or critical infrastructure systems.
- Strong experience delivering and supporting large-scale fluid-based cooling systems.
- In-depth knowledge of thermal engineering, heat transfer, fluid dynamics and cooling system performance.
- Expertise across pumps, valves, heat exchangers, piping systems and hydraulic networks.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Experience working with PLC, BMS or other industrial control systems.
- Proven ability to manage technical projects and influence multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Comfortable working within operational and data centre environments.
- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous.
Why This Opportunity?
- Work on some of the most advanced liquid cooling projects in the digital infrastructure sector.
- Influence technical strategy and engineering standards at scale.
- Join a business experiencing significant growth and long-term investment.
- Collaborate with industry-leading engineering and operations teams.
- Enjoy the autonomy of a remote position combined with meaningful site engagement.
- Play a key role in shaping the future of high-density computing environments.
