The Role As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of critical mechanical systems from concept design through to deployment. Working within a highly talented engineering team, you will help develop innovative cooling and mechanical infrastructure solutions for cutting-edge data centre environments.
You will be involved in large-scale projects focused on performance, reliability, speed of deployment and future scalability.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and developing mechanical systems for high-density data centre environments
- Leading mechanical design activities from concept and modelling through to construction and delivery
- Supporting the evolution of advanced cooling technologies, including liquid cooling solutions
- Developing scalable and repeatable mechanical design standards for rapid deployment
- Working closely with electrical, infrastructure and project teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions
- Collaborating with external consultants, contractors and specialist engineering partners
- Using analytical tools and engineering judgement to optimise performance, efficiency and reliability
- Ensuring designs remain practical, scalable and aligned with programme delivery requirements
What You’ll Need
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within data centres, mission-critical facilities or large-scale industrial infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of cooling systems, mechanical plant and thermal management solutions
- Experience delivering projects from concept design through to implementation
- Understanding of mechanical modelling, engineering calculations and system optimisation
- Ability to work within fast-moving, technically demanding environments
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a desire to drive innovation
