The Opportunity
An established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Bristol office. This role supports a growing portfolio of technically challenging projects across the defence and research sectors, alongside high-quality commercial fit-out work.
You will take a senior position within the mechanical team, delivering building services designs, supporting project delivery, and contributing to the ongoing development of the Bristol office.
Current & Upcoming Workload
Defence projects requiring security clearance, involving complex and secure environments
Two high-spec fit-out projects focused on research and design facilities
A strong forward pipeline of multidisciplinary building projects
This provides a balanced mix of secure, technically demanding work and longer-term project stability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead mechanical building services design from concept through to delivery
Produce and review calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications
Act as a technical lead, coordinating with internal teams and external consultants
Support and mentor junior engineers
Liaise directly with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes
Ensure designs comply with relevant UK standards and regulations
About You
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
Chartered or working towards Chartership (CIBSE, IMechE, or equivalent)
Proven experience in mechanical building services design
Experience in defence, secure, or research environments is advantageous
UK national with eligibility for security clearance (essential)
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
