James Mowat judged the MEP Middle East Awards 2022 in Dubai.
Our very own James Mowat recently returned from judging the MEP Middle East Awards in Dubai. Now in its 16th Year, the event highlights the Excellence and Innovation in the world of MEP in the rapidly maturing landscape of construction in the UAE.
One of 7 judges, James was part of the team looking at 147 submissions, shortlisting to 110 and then choosing the 19 winners across 3 categories. These were announced at the gala prize giving event at the Conrad Dubai in front of over 300+ attendees from the industry.
MEP Middle East Awards Categories
The 3 categories were:
- Company: with 5 winners and 9 Highly Commended
- Project with 7 winners and 7 Highly Commended
- People with 7 winners and 9 Highly Commended
Awards included MEP Contractor of the Year, CSR Initiate of the Year, Sustainable Project of the Year, MEP Executive of the Year as well as Young Engineer of the year, which also had 2 Highly Commended recipients. The next generation of the industry gave the judges a tough task to pick an overall winner.
The standard of entries was so high the judges took hours deliberating over the details. Click HERE to hear from the judges on just how tough a job that was and their category highlights.
Top Tips for 2023 Entry
When asked if he had any tips for entrants next year, James commented “The best tip I can give is to read the brief – it was so close on several categories that we had to look at every detail. There were missed opportunities where questions and statements were not evidenced which made the difference between a first and second or third place. Everyone involved works on a number of large projects where detail is key and this is no different.”
