MEP Awards 2023 Judge James Mowat

We are delighted to announce that James Mowat, Director at Energi People has been invited to judge the highly respected MEP Middle East Awards 2023, for the second consecutive year. Now in its 17th year, this event celebrates excellence and innovation in the world of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) within the rapidly maturing landscape of construction in the UAE.

As one of only seven judges, James will play a crucial role in evaluating the submissions, shortlisting the finest contenders, and ultimately selecting the winners across three header categories, each comprising seven subheadings.

The three categories are as follows:

Company Category

This category will feature 2 exciting new additions. These are “Manufacturer of the Year” award, showcasing significant contributions to the MEP industry through innovative products and solutions. Additionally, the “Employee Wellness Initiative of the Year” award will commend companies that prioritise and champion the well-being of their workforce.

Project Category

Within this category, two awards in particular stand out. The “Sustainable Project of the Year,” commending projects that embrace environmental consciousness and demonstrate eco-friendly practices. Another is “SMART Project of the Year,” honouring projects that leverage cutting-edge technology and digital innovations to revolutionize MEP in the region.

People Category

This category shines a spotlight on the talented individuals who are driving the industry forward. Among the awards are the “Young Engineer of the Year,” recognizing outstanding young professionals who have shown exceptional promise and achievement in their early careers, and the prestigious “MEP Executive of the Year” award, celebrating visionary leaders who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic acumen in the MEP sector.

Last year, the level of entries received was remarkably high, and we expect nothing less this year. The competition promises to be fierce, with contenders vying to showcase their expertise and accomplishments in the realm of MEP.

To maximise your chances of success we asked James if he had any tips for entrants this year. “The best tip I can give is to read the brief! It was so close on several categories that we had to look at every detail last year. There were missed opportunities where questions and statements were not evidenced which made the difference between a first and second or third place. Everyone involved works on a number of large projects where detail is key and this is no different.”

Nominations

Nominations are open NOW and close on the 11th August. The shortlist will be made public on 18th August with the winners announced on the 21st September at the Ritz Carlton.

We wish all the participants the very best of luck! we look forward to witnessing the exceptional talent, innovation and dedication that will undoubtedly shine through.
