Senior Structural Engineer – Heritage

My client is a specialist structural and civil engineering consultancy delivering high-quality design and conservation projects across the UK and overseas. They are seeking a Structural Engineer with experience in heritage, restoration, or conservation work to join their growing team.

You’ll work on the assessment, repair, and strengthening of historic and listed buildings, collaborating closely with architects, conservation officers, and clients. Projects range from sensitive restoration of landmark buildings to adaptive reuse and complex refurbishments.

Key responsibilities:

• Undertake structural assessments, surveys, and detailed design for heritage structures.

• Develop repair and conservation strategies respecting historic fabric.

• Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications.

• Liaise with design teams, contractors, and conservation authorities.

Requirements:

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng/MSc).

• 2–5 years’ structural experience, with exposure to heritage or conservation projects.

• Strong understanding of traditional materials – masonry, timber, and stone.

• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

• Proficiency with structural design software and CAD.
