Job Title: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor
Location: Snowdonia
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum + £5,750 car allowance or company car
Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role
We are a large civil engineering contractor looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor to support our project teams in Snowdonia. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our high standards of health, safety and environmental performance are maintained and continuously improved across all departments and projects.
Working closely with our site teams, managers, and the HSE Manager, you will help shape a positive health and safety culture while supporting the implementation of company policies, legal compliance, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities

Support project teams by providing health, safety and environmental advice, assurance and challenge where needed.

Help maintain and improve our Health, Safety & Environmental Management System, keeping it aligned with changes in legislation or industry best practice.

Support the development of internal HSE training materials and awareness campaigns.

Assist in delivering and promoting our Behavioural Safety Programme, BRAVE.

Carry out site inspections and audits with project managers to ensure company and legal standards are being met, and recommend improvements.

Assist in investigating close calls, near misses and other incidents, ensuring proper reporting and follow-up actions are taken.

Manage and analyse HSE data to help identify trends and support proactive improvement measures.

Help develop Occupational Health and Wellbeing campaigns to raise awareness and promote a healthy workplace.

Support the HSE Manager by contributing to the health and safety aspects of tenders and pre-qualification documents.

Help implement the company’s Health and Safety Business Strategy.

Maintain honesty, professionalism and integrity in line with IOSH’s Charter, Byelaws and Regulations.
Requirements
You should have:

Previous experience in a similar health, safety and environment role, ideally within civil engineering or construction.

Previous experience working for a Tier 1 contractor

A recognised health and safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate).

Good knowledge of UK HSE legislation and best practices.

Strong communication and influencing skills.

Confidence to carry out site inspections, support training, and speak up when improvements are needed.

Good data management and reporting skills.
