Associate Structural Engineer – Steel Specialist
Location: Ideally Manchester-based, but open to candidates across the UK | International travel required

A specialist engineering solutions provider, backed by a global powerhouse in construction and manufacturing, is expanding into the European market. We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Structural Engineer with deep expertise in steel structures to play a pivotal role in this exciting growth journey.

This is a career-defining opportunity for an ambitious professional: UK-based (ideally Manchester, though flexible across the UK), with regular travel to the Middle East including Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and beyond. You will not only deliver on high-profile projects but also help build and lead a UK-based design team, while coordinating design offices across the MENA region.

Job Description

As Associate Structural Engineer, you will:

  • Play a pivotal role in the design and analysis of complex steel structures.

  • Build, mentor, and lead a UK-based design team.

  • Oversee and coordinate structural design offices across the MENA region.

  • Ensure technical excellence and compliance with international steel design codes and standards.

  • Contribute to the strategic growth and success of the business in Europe and beyond.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on steel structures; Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Graduate of a Russell Group university (e.g., Bath, Sheffield, Liverpool, Imperial, etc.).

  • At least 10 years of proven experience in steel structural design and analysis.

  • Chartered Engineer status (ICE or IStructE) is highly desirable.

  • Proficient in industry-standard software, including SAP2000, STAAD PRO, IDEA StatiCa, RAM Connection, HILTI, and Tekla.

  • Strong knowledge of international steel design codes and standards.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.

  • Confident working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead teams across multiple regions.

What We Offer

  • The chance to lead and shape a new UK design function while driving European growth.

  • International exposure, collaborating on ambitious projects across the Middle East.

  • The backing of a respected global group with proven engineering and manufacturing excellence.

  • Professional development within an organisation that values career progression, growth, and financial stability.

  • A competitive package, designed to recognise leadership, expertise, and ambition.

If you’re ready to challenge yourself, lead from the front, and make your mark within a truly global organisation, we’d love to hear from you.
