Principal Mechanical Engineer – London (Hybrid Working)

We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a growing building services consultancy in London as a Principal Mechanical Engineer. Role Overview

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you’ll lead the design and delivery of mechanical services projects from concept to completion. You’ll manage client relationships, guide design teams, and ensure projects meet technical, regulatory, and performance standards. Your expertise will shape the solutions we deliver while mentoring junior engineers and fostering best practice across the team.

What You’ll Do

  • Take the lead on multidisciplinary mechanical building services projects.

  • Manage client interactions and collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and contractors.

  • Ensure design quality, compliance, and technical excellence throughout project delivery.

  • Mentor and support junior engineers, sharing knowledge and guidance.

  • Drive innovation and implement best practice within the mechanical team.

  • Contribute to recruitment, retention, and professional development of engineering talent.

  • Represent the company at industry events and maintain strong professional networks.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).

  • Chartered or working towards Chartered Status.

  • Significant experience delivering mechanical building services projects in regulated sectors.

  • Proven ability to lead design teams and influence engineering outcomes.

  • Proficient in MagiCAD, Relux, Amtech/EOM, AutoCAD, and Revit.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, confident engaging with clients and stakeholders.

  • Proactive, collaborative, and passionate about delivering technically excellent and sustainable solutions.
