Senior Civil Engineer / Technician

Location: Liverpool

Permanent

Salary: £35k – £45k (Negotiable on UK Experience)

Benefits: 25 Days annual leave + Birthday and ability to purchase 5 more days – Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Leave – EV Scheme, Cycle Scheme, Generous Pension + Much more!

Our sort after client are looking for a Senior Civil Engineering Technician or Engineer to join a growing Civils team based in Liverpool. The team currently consists of six people, including two Principals, three Junior Engineers and an Associate who leads the team.

The successful candidate will ideally operate at senior level, either as a Technician or Engineer. However, we are also open to individuals who are close to this level and may require a further 6–12 months of experience.

You will join a supportive team with a strong mix of experience, offering excellent opportunities for technical development and progression, as well as the chance to mentor junior staff. A clear development pathway is available through either the Technician or Engineer route, depending on experience and aspirations.

The Role

The Civils team works collaboratively across multiple disciplines rather than specialising in a single area. Project work can include drainage, highways, earthworks, flood risk, sustainability and technical masterplanning. Experience in all areas is not expected, as training and internal support are provided.

A key requirement is experience supporting planning applications, including the production of technical reports. Proficiency in AutoCAD is required. Experience with Civil 3D or hydraulic modelling is beneficial but not essential, as training can be provided.

Projects

The role offers exposure to a wide variety of projects, from small access junctions to large-scale multi-use developments, including:

  • Major dockside infrastructure and masterplanning schemes

  • Large landholdings assessed for future new towns

  • Residential developments including drainage, highways and adoption works (S104, S38, S278)

  • Flood risk and drainage for complex planning applications

  • Hospital access and estate infrastructure

  • Urban highway schemes delivered on behalf of Local Authorities

  • City-centre regeneration and mixed-use masterplanning projects

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated civil engineering professional seeking varied work, strong technical support and clear career progression within a growing team.
