Senior Structural Engineer – Heritage & Conservation (Permanent)

Location: London Office

Salary: £45,000 – £55,000

A leading structural engineering practice is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its expanding Heritage & Conservation team based in London. This is a permanent position offering the opportunity to work on an exciting and diverse range of high-profile conservation, refurbishment, and adaptive reuse projects across London and the UK.

 

The Role

The successful candidate will support the delivery of structural design work on projects involving historic and listed buildings. They will be responsible for structural calculations, preparation of design packages and technical reports, site visits, and participation in design team meetings. With time and experience, there will be the opportunity to lead and manage projects, supported by a Line Manager and Team Director.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertaking structural design calculations and analysis across all traditional and modern materials

  • Assisting in the preparation and delivery of design packages

  • Attending site visits and coordinating with design teams and clients

  • Contributing to written reports and technical documentation

  • Leading projects as experience grows, with appropriate support

 

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 6 years’ UK experience in structural engineering

  • A strong technical background with experience across a range of materials

  • Proven experience working on heritage, conservation, refurbishment, and adaptive reuse projects

  • Chartered status or nearing chartership with IStructE or MICE

  • An interest in pursuing CARE accreditation (support provided but not essential)

  • A proactive, team-oriented attitude with a passion for the historic built environment
