Are you an experienced mechanical design engineer looking to take your career to the next level? Our award-winning, multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking a talented individual to join our dynamic design team in Manchester.
About the Role:
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work under the guidance of our Director/Associate Director, managing medium to large-scale projects and individual engineering tasks across various sectors. Your responsibilities will include:

Oversee the creation, development, and finalization of mechanical services design solutions.

Work closely with team members, project teams, clients, and other design professionals.

Attend regular project meetings, conduct site inspections, and monitor works at the site level.
Key Areas of Expertise:
We are looking for candidates with experience in mechanical building services, including:
-
Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), including ISO Clean/Dry Rooms
-
Hot and Cold Water Systems
-
Compressed Air Systems
-
Steam Systems
-
Above Ground Foul Drainage
-
Central Control/Building Management Systems
Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be able to:
-
Conduct survey work and site inspections
-
Perform design calculations using various methods, from hand calculations to software-based modeling
-
Prepare drawn information and write technical specifications and reports
-
Identify and resolve problems early, exhibiting active project risk management
-
Peer review and check design information prepared by others
-
Manage a project-specific team of engineers
-
Maintain records and archives to company standards
-
Manage their own workload to meet defined targets and deadlines
-
Allocate and manage project-specific workload of graduates, project engineers, and admin staff
-
Handle commercial aspects of projects, including management of project income and costs
-
Foster client relationships and seek additional opportunities within existing and new client relationships

Take responsibility for their own professional and personal development, as well as contribute to the development of team members
Requirements:
-
At least 10 years of post-graduate ‘hands-on’ design experience in building services consultancy
-
Chartered Engineer (CEng) with CIBSE or IMechE
-
Degree and/or master’s in building services/architectural engineering
-
High level of computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Autodesk Revit MEP, Cymap, and ideally EDSL Tas
