Senior Electrical Design Engineer – MEP
Manchester/Leeds
£50,000 – £55,000
To work effectively as a Senior Electrical Engineer, you must establish yourself as a key leader in the team, fully using your leadership and mentoring skills to develop and guide junior engineers and maintain excellent customer relationships. Additionally, you must lead projects to ensure resources are allocated effectively and projects are delivered on time.
Role and Responsibilities

Apply your expertise in electrical building services to produce high-quality designs, including HV/LV power, lighting, emergency lighting, lighting controls, fire alarms, communications systems, lightning protection, security, and access control systems.

Manage project resources effectively to ensure timely and successful delivery.

Oversee and contribute to project design from initiation to completion.

Supervise and support junior engineers and technicians throughout project stages.

Provide leadership, mentoring, and motivation to junior team members.

Undertake and document Continuing Professional Development in accordance with CIBSE requirements.

Conduct detailed site investigations and inspections, identify issues, and implement practical solutions.

Ensure all designs meet required standards and align with the company’s Integrated Management System.

Review and coordinate electrical design elements, identifying and addressing any constraints.

Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and other construction professionals.

Represent the company at design team meetings with clients and project stakeholders.

Maintain an understanding of the project’s fee structure and resource profile to ensure commercially efficient delivery.

Apply knowledge of Building Regulations, client net-zero targets, and sustainability standards such as BREEAM and LEED.

Software Capabilities

Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Trimble, Relux, and working within a BIM environment.

Comfortable using Office 365 tools for communication and documentation.
Qualifications
-
Professionally registered or actively working toward Chartered Engineer status with IET or CIBSE.
